The 17.7 is the bigger of the two models, and I’m comfortable in it (5’8” 195 lbs.), so it accommodates mid-to slightly larger paddler. 8a. Avocet thermoform – 16’X22” 2011. This is an ideal day boat or light tripping boat for small to mid-weight paddlers. Very tough construction, this boat weighs approximately 50 lbs. and is VERY ruggedly built. I am going to hazard it will turn out to be a much nicer boat than its composite counterpart because if it's durability, repair-ability and lower cost.
This is one tough cool customer of a sea kayak for small to intermediate sized paddlers; I am 5'8" 190 lbs and paddled it OK, a tad snug, but I would paddle it again, anytime. Built using thermoformed composite construction (TCC) by Eddyline Kayaks on contract for Valley, This is the latest manufacturing technology available in kayak construction. These kayaks are built from sheets of thermoformed plastic that are stiffer and lighter than the polyethylene plastic used to build roto-molded kayaks. As with fiberglass kayaks, these thermoformed kayaks won't warp or loose their shape over time. 11a. Etain 17.7 rm. The new player in the Valley line-up, the Etain, a Swede-form design – widest point behind the cockpit (excellent in rougher water). This boat is sure to please most paddlers wanting a fast anpredictable plastic boat for day or multi day journeys.
